AMD releases Ryzen Chipset Driver 8.02.18.557

AMD has released Ryzen Chipset Driver version 8.02.18.557. The new package arrives as a maintenance update focused on bug fixes and the return of a few components that were missing from the previous release.

According to AMD, the 8.02.18.557 package restores support for the AMS Mailbox driver and the S0i3 filter driver. These components are required for power management and system communication on supported Ryzen platforms.

The release also includes several smaller fixes. AMD noted that some driver names may still appear in English on non-English operating systems. The company also listed an issue where the Ryzen PPKG component may occasionally fail to install or upgrade.

AMD added that the AMS and S0i3 filter drivers still have known issues on non-English OS environments. In other words, the update brings back missing driver support, but it does not fully eliminate every remaining problem.

The release notes also mention an important rollback limitation. Users who installed AMD Chipset Installer version 7.xx.xx.xx cannot directly install version 6.xx.xx.xx or older. Anyone who needs to roll back must first uninstall the newer chipset installer, then delete the Qt_Dependencies folder located in C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Chipset_Software\, and only then install the older package.

This release is positioned more as a maintenance update than a major feature drop. The return of the missing driver components is likely the most important change, especially for supported Ryzen systems where power management behavior and platform stability matter.
