GTA 6 delayed: Rockstar confirms new release date

Rockstar Games has officially announced a delay for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6). According to the company’s latest post on social media, the game will now launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026.

In its statement, Rockstar said, “Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

The studio also thanked fans for their patience and continued support, adding: “While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City.”

With this announcement, the release of GTA 6 has officially been pushed back once again. The game was originally planned for 2025, but Rockstar decided to extend development to ensure the highest quality possible.

Grand Theft Auto VI will take players back to a modern version of Vice City, located within the expansive new Leonida state. Rockstar describes it as the largest and most detailed open world ever created in the series.

The game will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while a PC version has not yet been confirmed. Rockstar emphasized that development is in its final stages and assured fans that the extra time will help deliver a polished, next-generation experience worthy of the franchise’s legacy.
