AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D Benchmarks Surface with Strong Single-Core Performance

New Geekbench 6 benchmarks have surfaced, revealing performance results for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D processors. These high-end chips, featuring 3D V-Cache technology, deliver notable gains in single-core and multi-core performance compared to previous-generation models.

The benchmarks indicate that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D achieves a single-core score of 3,363 and a multi-core score of 20,465. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D records a single-core score of 3,274 and a multi-core score of 19,227. These tests were conducted on a system equipped with a Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX motherboard and 32GB of DDR5-4800 memory.

For comparison, previous-generation models Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D scored lower in both categories. The 7950X3D achieved a single-core score of 2,936 and multi-core score of 18,228, while the 7900X3D recorded 2,755 in single-core and 17,422 in multi-core performance.

Performance Uplift Analysis

  • The Ryzen 9 9950X3D shows a 13.55% improvement in single-core performance and 11.56% in multi-core performance compared to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D.
  • The Ryzen 9 9900X3D demonstrates a 17.21% increase in single-core performance and 9.85% in multi-core performance over its predecessor.

AMD has confirmed that these new Zen 5 X3D processors utilize a dual CCD (Core Complex Die) design, with one CCD incorporating 3D V-Cache technology. This design improves gaming and certain compute workloads while maintaining high clock speeds on the second CCD.

Expected Features and Launch Timeline

AMD has yet to confirm exact pricing for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D, but the company has stated that both chips are scheduled for launch within the current quarter. These CPUs are expected to feature TDP values of 175W (9950X3D) and 120W (9900X3D), with boost clock speeds reaching 5.7 GHz and 5.5 GHz, respectively.

The reverse CCD structure used in the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is likely implemented here as well, which could contribute to improved thermal efficiency despite the high power envelope. AMD has claimed that the 9950X3D offers up to 13% better performance in creator workloads compared to the 7950X3D.

With these benchmark results now available, a release date announcement for AMD’s latest X3D processors is expected soon.
