Special update released for older iPhones: iOS 18.7.2 is now available

Apple has rolled out a new interim update for users who haven’t yet upgraded to iOS 26. The new version, iOS 18.7.2, brings important security improvements to older iPhone models and is recommended for all users. The company has also released iPadOS 18.7.2 for iPad users at the same time.

Final security-focused update for iOS 18 users

With this update, Apple is delivering many of the same security fixes introduced in iOS 26.1 to users still running iOS 18. According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 18.7.2 is purely a security-focused update with no new features. Details shared on Apple’s official security webpage indicate that the update addresses vulnerabilities found in key system apps such as App Store, Camera, Audio, Find My, and Notes.

Although the update doesn’t include any visual or functional changes, it plays a critical role in maintaining device security. Apple strongly recommends that all users install the update as soon as possible. Once installed, iPhones will be better protected against potential security threats and exploit attempts.

Apple notes that many of the major issues have already been fixed with the iOS 26.1 release. However, for users choosing to remain on iOS 18, version 18.7.2 represents the final step in keeping their devices secure. The update can be downloaded wirelessly through Settings > General > Software Update.
