M4 MacBook Air introduced: Price and specs

Apple has officially announced the new M4 chip-powered MacBook Air, following the updates to the iPad and iPad Air. Maintaining its slim and lightweight design, the new MacBook Air offers high performance and long battery life. The new model is available for pre-order at a starting price of $999.

The new MacBook Air is available in two different sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch. It is designed with portability in mind and features a body made of recycled aluminum. The model comes in four color options: “Sky Blue,” “Silver,” “Starlight,” and “Midnight.” Each color variant includes a matching MagSafe charging cable.

Powered by Apple’s M4 chip, the new MacBook Air delivers up to 23 times faster performance than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air and up to 2 times faster than the M1 chip-powered MacBook Air. The fanless design ensures silent operation. The device offers up to 18 hours of battery life, providing long-lasting usage. It also supports fast charging, reaching 50% charge in just 30 minutes.

With the M4 chip, MacBook Air is optimized for AI-powered tasks. The Neural Engine enhances artificial intelligence capabilities, including AI-based photo editing, language model processing, and automatic framing. The integration of Apple Intelligence allows for more advanced assistant services through platforms like Siri and ChatGPT.

MacBook Air features Liquid Retina display technology. The screen supports 1 billion colors, delivering high contrast and sharp details for a more vivid viewing experience. The 12 MP FaceTime HD camera with Center Stage support is included for video calls. The sound system is enhanced with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio technology, improving audio clarity for media consumption and video calls.

The new MacBook Air includes a MagSafe charging port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a headphone jack. Wi-Fi 6E support enables up to twice the data transfer speed compared to previous generations. Additionally, it supports up to two external displays.

MacBook Air is equipped with Touch ID for secure login and payment authentication. The latest version of macOS ensures compatibility with optimized applications, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Google Workspace with Gemini. With iPhone integration, users can mirror their iPhone screens on the MacBook Air and transfer data seamlessly between devices.

The M4 MacBook Air will be available for purchase starting March 12. The 13-inch and 15-inch models will be available at a starting price of $999. Pre-orders can be placed through Apple Stores and authorized resellers.
