A new leak suggests that AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D will have its embargo lifted on March 11, 2025, indicating a potential launch date for the highly anticipated CPU. The information was shared by Golden Pig on Weibo, revealing that the 16-core flagship processor from AMD’s Ryzen 9000X3D lineup could be available in nearly three weeks.
AMD has previously confirmed that both the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D will launch in March 2025 but has not provided an exact release date. The leak does not specify whether the 12-core 9900X3D will debut on the same day, though AMD has historically launched its X3D processors simultaneously within the same generation.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D Specs
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D were officially announced during CES 2025. The 9950X3D features 16 Zen 5 cores and 144MB of L2 and L3 cache, utilizing a dual CCD (Core Complex Die) design. The 9900X3D offers 12 Zen 5 cores with 140MB of total cache, positioning it as a mid-tier option within the Ryzen 9000X3D series.
Both processors incorporate 3D V-Cache technology, similar to their predecessors, where only one of the CCD units features 3D V-Cache. AMD states that this updated Zen 5 architecture minimizes the clock speed limitations previously observed in Zen 4 X3D models, thanks to the revised 3D-VCache placement beneath the CCD rather than on top.
Performance Expectations
AMD claims that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D delivers:
- 8% higher gaming performance than the previous-generation Ryzen 9 7950X3D.
- 20% faster gaming performance compared to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K.
- 12% better multi-core performance and 14% higher single-core performance based on Geekbench benchmark leaks.
Pricing and Availability
AMD has not yet disclosed pricing details for the 9950X3D or 9900X3D, though they are expected to be significantly more expensive than the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The previous generation 7950X3D debuted with an MSRP of $700, and similar or higher pricing is anticipated for the new high-core count models.
Further official announcements regarding pricing and availability are expected closer to the March launch.
