WhatsApp is rolling out new chat themes, allowing users to personalize their conversations with colorful backgrounds, alternative chat bubbles, and more customization options.
WhatsApp Rolls Out Chat Themes for Personalized Conversations
According to WhatsApp, users can select from a range of pre-set themes that modify both background and bubble colors or mix and match individual elements to suit their preferences. This update introduces a level of customization that enhances the user experience within the app.
Additionally, WhatsApp is expanding its wallpaper collection with 30 new options, providing more variety for users who wish to personalize their chats. While users cannot generate backgrounds using AI, they can still select or create designs that reflect their style.
Users can apply a theme across all chats or customize individual conversations. The selected chat themes are only visible to the user applying them and do not affect the appearance of chats for other participants.
To change the theme for all chats and channels, users can navigate to Settings > Chats > Default chat theme. For individual chats, they can tap on the chat name (on iOS) or select Chat theme from the three-dot menu (on Android).
WhatsApp has confirmed that the new chat themes are rolling out starting today and will be available globally over the coming weeks.
